If you’re the leader of your country and your country was attacked, what would you do?
The road to peace has never been easy, but it has to start with someone being willing to stand up and say, “No, I will not meet violence with more violence”. Look at all of the great leaders from the past 100 years … Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, or the Dalai Lama. They all managed to bring about peaceful change without ever raising a hand in violence, without ever telling others to pick up a gun and kill someone over their beliefs.
So, my answer is no, I am not for war. And if I was the ruler of a nation, I would never tell my people to attack invaders, instead I would hope that the example I had set for them, an example of peace and love, would help them to instead meet the enemy with love and respect. If we all tried that then pretty soon I believe that those we call our enemies would be willing to be called our brothers.
